Australian Lions Hearing Dogs
Our club proudly supports the Australian Lions Hearing Dogs and their programs. We have donated funds over the years to support their programs, and have sponsored a foster puppy, Tenterfield Terrier, called Milo.
Australian Lions Hearing Dogs (ALHD) was initially founded in 1980. Over 650 Hearing Assistance Dogs have been placed Australia-wide, a local Lions Club involved with each and every one, and all going to their deaf and hard of hearing recipients free-of-charge.
ALHD continues as a Lion project, delivering Australians who are deaf or hard of hearing a set of ‘furry ears’ free of charge. It is overseen by a Board of volunteer Lions Members from around the country
Sister Catherine’s St Vinnies Pantry
Adelaide Hellenic donates to Sister Catherine’s Saint Vinnies Pantry at Croydon Park. We were introduced to Sister Catherine by Steve Georganas MP in June 2020 when we inducted Steve back to our Club.
We donate food, Lions Mini Christmas Cakes, toys and any nonperishables to the Panty. We also help every year with lolly bags at Christmas for the children together with our mini cakes.
Sister Catherine has her Pantry in a back room adjacent to the hall at St Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church.
Donated Defibrillator
The Kangaroo Island Yacht Club, situated on the picturesque shores of Napean Bay in Kingscote, offers a stunning view of the bay and the adjacent beach.
The Adelaide Hellenic Lions Club generously donated a defibrillator to the Kangaroo Island Yacht Club. This donation strengthens the club’s commitment to the well-being and safety of its members and the wider community. By having a defibrillator on-site, the yacht club is better equipped to respond to any medical emergencies that may arise during their activities or in the surrounding area. The Adelaide Hellenic Lions Club’s contribution is greatly appreciated and reflects the spirit of collaboration and care within the community.
Peace Poster Competition
For over three decades, Lions clubs around the globe have been sponsoring a very special art contest in schools and youth groups. Creating peace posters gives children everywhere the chance to express their visions of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity.
Our club is proud to work with art teacher, Deanne Taliangis, and the students at St George College, to participate in this project each year.
